WHY ARE YOU INTIMIDATED BY ME? - 2023
This work was a development of 'tensions of hysteria'. I wanted to focus again on the female reproductive anatomy, however be more subtle with it. This is a uterus whilst on a period. The beads represent the period blood, I wanted to represent something that is seen as disgusting in a beautiful way to try and change the negative connotations of period blood. I let the work morph into the shape it felt natural to, as I was planning to pin it onto the wall. However this work is very much about the freedom of the female body, and the freedom to be yourself. Therefore, pinning it down felt morally wrong. This work has created a lot of interesting conversations with my female friends and male lecturers, which I doubt I would have had if I had not made this work.
